Webb11 sep. 2013 · Probably has 100-150 hours on the engine since it was installed. The starter turns strong and starts the engine without any problems. However, once started, there is a horrible clanking noise that I believe is the bendix hitting the flywheel. I pulled the starter and lubed up the bendix gear. It moves smoothly until it's in the starter housing ... Webb11 apr. 2024 · I tried loosening them, rocking the starter, but no luck. Pulled them all the way out, but the case and coils came off, leaving the armature and drive still stuck. Had to pry with a big screwdriver to get it freed from the flywheel. Then had to make a three hour round trip home to get a spare.

Not sure. But, I think since your starter spins over I would pull the starter and take a look at it. If all looks well there you don't have much choice but pull the flywheel and remove the Bendix. You might try a bit of lube first on the starter drive shaft and try the starter. how much is directv choice packageWebb9 dec. 2008 · Sounds like somehow the bolts got loosened, or the starter was removed for some reason and the shims were not installed between the starter and the block.
