WebNov 17, 2003 · Err. Plumbers putty is similar to green stuff in that it is a 2 part semi-solid epoxy. However, it is signifigantly different in properties. It hardens faster, it is more exothermic, and tends to be less elastic when cured. IIRC, it also shriks up a bit when it cures. I usually get an hour or so out of greenstuff before it becomes to hard to work.
