Tuning at first start is not a good idea. It shouldn't die. Most likely you are not getting a good +12V to the unit. The ECU doesn't respond well to a weak electrical system. Solution- disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor and let the fuel drain into a clear container. You will see the water in its own layer at the bottom of the container.
