WebTragedy struck early in 1929, when Shannon fell while hanging a picture, damaging his brain. He never fully recovered his senses and turned bitterly against Ricketts, who died of a broken heart two years later. Shannon lived on until 1937, bequeathing the magnificent collection they had formed together to the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.
